Terms of Service
Effective October 8, 2026
These terms apply to SHSAT Practice Test at shsatpracticetest.net (the “site”), run by the SHSAT Practice Test team (“SHSAT Practice Test”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you use the site for your child, you agree to them for your child too. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.
1. What SHSAT Practice Test is
SHSAT Practice Test is an independent practice site for New York City’s Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). It offers a free practice test, practice questions, a score calculator, information about the 8 specialized high schools that admit by SHSAT score, optional parent accounts, and a paid Pro season.
SHSAT Practice Test is not affiliated with or endorsed by NYC Public Schools, the NYC Department of Education or Pearson. All practice questions are original and written for this site; they are not official SHSAT questions.
2. Scores are estimates
Our scores, chances and study suggestions are estimates for practice. They are not official scores and do not predict or guarantee any test result or admission. Admission decisions are made only by NYC Public Schools.
3. Parent accounts
- Only a parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older may create an account. Students may not create accounts.
- You add each child with a nickname and an optional grade. You are responsible for how your children use the site under your account.
- Keep access to your email or Google account secure; anyone who can read your sign-in emails can sign in.
- You can remove a child or delete your account at any time on your account page.
4. Pro
- What it is. Pro is a one-time purchase for one SHSAT season. It ends at 11:59 p.m. New York time on January 31 of the year after you buy it. It does not renew, and you are never charged again unless you buy another season.
- What it includes. Pro adds each child’s full history on every device, and the Pro tools we release during the season, at no extra cost. Features listed as “coming soon” are plans, not promises of a date.
- Price. The price is shown before you pay. Families on our Pro waitlist may get a lower price, applied automatically.
- Payment. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Polar (Polar Software, Inc.). Polar is the merchant of record for all our orders, handles payment, sales tax and receipts, and provides customer service for payment questions. Polar’s buyer terms apply to your payment.
5. Refunds
- Within 14 days of buying Pro, you can ask for a full refund for any reason. Write to [contact email: to be added] from the email you used at checkout.
- After 14 days, we refund when Pro did not work as described and we could not fix it, and otherwise at our discretion.
- If the site is shut down during a season you paid for, we refund the unused part of the season.
- A refund ends Pro for that season. Refunds are paid by Polar to the original payment method.
6. Acceptable use
Use the site only for personal, non-commercial practice. Do not:
- copy, scrape, sell or republish our questions, explanations or other content;
- use bots or automated tools to access the site or send answers, or try to get around our limits or bot checks;
- try to access other people’s accounts or data, or interfere with the site’s security or operation;
- submit false problem reports or use the site to harass anyone.
We may limit, suspend or close access that breaks these rules.
7. Our content
The site’s questions, explanations, text, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use them for your family’s SHSAT practice. “SHSAT” refers to the test given by NYC Public Schools and is used only to describe what this site helps you practice for.
8. Changes to the site and these terms
We may change, add or remove features. If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and email account holders before changes that affect Pro purchases take effect.
9. Disclaimers and limit of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, except where the law of the place you live gives you protections that cannot be waived.
11. Contact
